Nugget Hop Pellets
Nugget Hops are a high alpha acid powerhouse variety developed in the U.S. for bold bitterness and earthy, spicy character. Released in 1983 by the USDA, Nugget quickly gained popularity for its high alpha acids and ability to deliver clean, firm bitterness to a wide range of beer styles. While originally intended as a bittering hop, its unique aroma featuring herbal, woody, and light citrus notes makes it suitable for late additions as well.
Nugget works especially well in hoppy IPAs, hearty Stouts, rich Barleywines, and even robust Brown Ales.

Nugget Hops FAQ
What do Nugget hops taste like?
Nugget hops have a bold, earthy bitterness balanced by herbal spice and subtle citrus.
Are Nugget hops only for bittering?
Not at all! Although famous as a bittering hop, Nugget has a complex aroma that’s suitable for late additions or even dry hopping when targeting rustic or spicy profiles.
What styles work best with Nugget hops?
Think big: IPAs, Barleywines, Stouts, and Brown Ales all benefit from Nugget’s intense bitterness and sturdy background flavor.
How does Nugget compare to Magnum?
Both are high-alpha hops, but Nugget has more earthy-spicy flavor. Magnum is cleaner and more neutral in bittering profile.
How well does Nugget store?
Very well. Nugget’s high alpha content and low cohumulone help it retain bitterness and aroma over time, especially when vacuum-sealed and kept cold.
